Prayer is turning to God and speaking to Him. It is not enough just to say the words with our lips. Prayer comes from the heart. Prayer is a form of worship because the object of our attention, our words, and our thoughts, is God. Prayer is one of our greatest privileges.

Pilgrim’s Prayer Ministries

The Gathering

The Gathering is a small group prayer meeting that prays for the concerns of our members. Quite often they are prayers for healing, for loved ones in the military, for our school children and the teachers as well as our Pilgrim workers and volunteers.

Praying:

At each session the following are prayed for on a rotating basis:

  • 5 Pilgrim families
  • 4 Little Lambs families
  • 4 home-bound members
  • 2 schools

Ongoing concerns of the organizational structure of Pilgrim are prayed for each week.

Our congregational called workers, leaders and volunteers are prayed for each week.

Ongoing ministries are included.

Our latest confirmands are prayed for each week.

Requests from the congregation and various other sources are prayed for in a timely fashion.

Various Synod ministries are prayed for.

Participants are given cards listing a person, a family, a ministry, or a concern to pray for. Some cards have written prayers and some only list the item in need of prayer. Participants not yet comfortable with “making up” a prayer in a group situation can request all cards with written-out prayers. The Participants then take turns praying for the things written on the cards.

Other Regular Activities:

Letters and cards are sent out to members who have asked for prayer.
Postcards, seasonal letters and cards are sent to the home bound.
Cards are delivered to the students’ cubbies at Little Lambs.

Who:

All adult members of Pilgrim who are willing to keep requests confidential are welcome to participate. Meetings last about 1 hour (prayers 45 minutes). Why not you? Please join us!

When and Where:

We have been meeting at 6:45pm in the Children’s room at Church. See the church bulletin or calendar for up-to-date times and locations.

Men’s Prayer Ministry

The Gathering is a small group prayer meeting that prays for the concerns of our members. Quite often they are prayers for healing, for loved ones in the military, for our school children and the teachers as well as our Pilgrim workers and volunteers.

What better way is there, than asking our Lord for guidance? He has always said: “Ask and it shall be given you, seek and you shall find, knock and the door shall be opened unto you.” We are seeking more men from our congregation, who are willing to serve on this team.

We use the ACTS – Model for prayer.

1. Adoration – through a psalm of praise.

2. Confession – based on the Ten Commandments.

3. Thanksgiving – simply thanking God for His blessing to their church.

4. Supplication – Make our request to the Lord, for His blessings on the various area’s of Pilgrim’s ministry, pastors, teachers, various people mentioned in our bulletin, or someone, who has need of our prayers.

In Jesus name we pray, that some of you will come and join us on this team.

Check the church bulletin or calendar for time and location.
